A little over a year ago we made national news. It had been 150 years since the surrender of General Lee's Army of Northern Virginia at Appomattox Court House and we had the honor of recreating it exactly where it look place over a century ago. Just in case you missed this incredible moment for Appomattox, we wanted to share it with you again. #ThrowBackThursday

A good American History TV video about the 150th Fredericksburg with Frank O’Reilly.
Fighting along Sophia Street.
Video of attack on the stone wall.
Here are a few videos from Morgan’s Raid:
The first video is shot from one of the stern wheelers.
The second video shows the Union troops moving up the street.
The third video is the taking of Chester, OH.
The author is an avid Civil War history buff and an Air Force veteran. He has never been a reenactor, but he has attended many events over the years (as a spectator). He recently published a novel for Kindle about Union reenactors. The book’s title is Marty’s War and can be found on Amazon here!
Just a short video.
The first CAR Event was held at Spangler’s Springs, Gettysburg NPS, October 23-25th, 2015. This recreation living history G.A.R. Encampment held on The Gettysburg National Military Park, at Spangler’s Spring was excellent! Authenticity wise, it was one of the most perfect post Civil War exhibits I have ever seen! It was correct, down to using antique camp furniture and eating, drinking, cooking utensils, to making a special reproduction ribbon, (identical to G.A.R. originals). These boys did their homework. Everyone, including N.P.S. officials were very impressed. We look forward to next year’s G.A.R. Encampment here! Mike looked terrific as well as all the other boys! John Zaharias The Button Baron
